The fourth-generation Continental was refreshed in 1964 with a longer 126″ wheelbase, vertical grille accents, a revised rear deck trim panel, and a relocated fuel filler door on the left quarter panel. This example left the factory finished in Arctic White (M) and is said to have been refinished under previous ownership. Exterior details include a power-operated blue soft top, chrome bumpers and trim, a left-side mirror, rear-hinged rear doors, and a retractable antenna. A reinforcement rod was fitted to the convertible top cylinder mounts and the hydraulic hoses for the top were replaced in November 2022. Cracked and bubbling paint is present along the body, discoloration and staining are visible on the soft top, the weather seals and rear trim panel are worn, and pitting can be seen on the rear bumper.
Steel 15″ wheels wear Lincoln-branded covers and Arizonian Silver Edition thin-whitewall tires. The car is equipped with power steering and power-assisted brakes. The seller reports that a font disc brake conversion was installed under previous ownership, and service in November 2022 included an alignment and replacing the brake master cylinder and brake hoses.
The front and rear bench seats are upholstered in blue leather and are joined by a color-coordinated lower dashboard, door panels, and carpeting. Amenities include folding center armrests, lap belts, a power-adjustable front seat, vacuum-operated power door locks, and an AM radio. Wear can be seen on the bench seats, and scuffs are present on the underside of the doors. The seller notes the horn works intermittently and the windows do not partially lower when the doors are opened. Corrosion is present on the underside of the trunk lid, and the stock air conditioning system is inoperative.
A three-spoke steering wheel is mounted on a tilting column and frames a horizontal 120-mph speedometer and supplementary gauges. The five-digit mechanical odometer shows 469 miles, and the total mileage is unknown.
The 430ci V8 features a four-barrel carburetor and Mallory electronic ignition, and it was fitted with an electric fuel pump under previous ownership. The seller notes that the stock fuel pump is disconnected from the fuel lines, but remains installed on the engine and clicks when the engine is running.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a dual-range three-speed automatic transmission and a differential with a 2.89:1 final drive ratio. The driveshaft was replaced in November 2022, and the seller states that an exhaust leak and power steering and transmission fluid leaks are present. Corrosion can be seen on underside components, and additional underbody photos can be seen in the gallery below.
