Silver 15” ventilated steel wheels wear chrome hubcaps and are mounted with 165-series radial tires with sidewall cracks. A full-size spare is housed in the front trunk, and stopping power is provided by four-wheel disc brakes. The front brake pads were replaced and the brakes were bled by Cads-Auto of Fresno, California, in April 2023.
The seats are upholstered in black leatherette and the cabin is equipped with lap seatbelts, hand-crank windows, door map pockets, a locking glove compartment, a passenger grab handle, a fuel reserve lever, an analog clock, and a Blaupunkt AM/FM push-button radio linked with Road Gear speakers in the kick panels. The headliner has been replaced, the front seat upholstery is loose, the lap belts are discolored and the Porsche crest logos are pealing.
Green-letter VDO instrumentation includes a central tachometer, a 120-mph speedometer, and a combination gauge for oil temperature and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 16k miles, approximately 1k of which have been added under current ownership. True mileage is unknown.
The Type 616/15 air-cooled flat-four is fed by dual Weber carburetors topped with K&N air filters and equipped with a Bosch distributor and Blue coil. Service in April 2023 included changing the oil, adjusting the carburetors, and replacing the spark plugs, ignition wires, contact points, condenser, fan belt, and fuel hoses.
The engine-case stamping reads P☆710047☆, which matches the number listed on the Kardex. Transaxle stamping number 70097 is shown in the gallery along with other identifying markings.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transaxle. The gear oil was changed in April 2023. Additional underside images are presented in the gallery.
