Finished from the factory in Ruby Red (6402), the Reutter-built body is said to have been repainted blue under previous ownership and was refinished back to its original color in 2022. Exterior details include body-color bumpers with chrome guards, a driver’s sideview mirror, fog lights, European-style taillights, exhaust outlets integrated into the rear overriders, twin engine-cover grilles, and a chrome Lietz luggage rack. Later-model 15×5.5″ chrome-finished steel wheels feature Porsche crest hubcaps and are mounted with 185/70 Vredestein Sprint Classic tires that show date codes from 2022. A full-size spare is stored in the front trunk. The car is equipped with Koni Classic shocks, and stopping power is handled by four-wheel disc brakes. The brake master cylinder and hoses were replaced in April 2023.
The cabin is said to have been reupholstered in black leather under previous ownership in 2022 and features a body-color metal dashboard. Black and red coco mats line the floors, and equipment includes fold-down rear seats, a locking glove box, and lap belts.
A wood-rimmed VDM three-spoke steering wheel frames green-letter VDO instrumentation including a central tachometer, a 120-mph speedometer, and a combination gauge. The five-digit odometer shows 20k miles, approximately 40 of which have been covered by the selling dealer. Total mileage is unknown.
The 616/16 flat-four features dual Weber carburetors and was overhauled in 1996 with Nippon Racing big-bore pistons to yield an approximate displacement of 1,720cc. The electrical system was converted to 12 volts under previous ownership, and the car is equipped with a European-style exhaust system. Service under current ownership included rebuilding the Bosch distributor, performing a valve adjustment, flushing of the fluids, cleaning and tuning the carburetors, and replacing throttle end links, fuel filter, spark plugs, and ignition wires.
Engine stamping P☆821519☆ is shown above and matches the Porsche Certificate of Authenticity. Transaxle stamping 83247 is shown in the gallery below and also matches the certificate.
Power is sent to the rear wheels via a four-speed manual transaxle. The selling dealer reports that the transmission fluid was changed in February 2023. Corrosion is visible on underside components.
