The 15″ Turbine-style aluminum wheels feature knock-off spinners and are mounted with 205/75 Firestone Supreme Si tires. The C2 was the first Corvette to offer fully independent suspension, with upper and lower control arms at the front and a three-link setup with a transverse leaf spring at the rear. The car is equipped with power steering and four-wheel power-assisted disc brakes. A replacement power steering valve was installed in 2019.
The cabin features two bucket seats upholstered in black vinyl as well as color-coordinated door panels and carpets. Amenities include a cabin heater, lap belts, an AM/FM radio, an analog clock, and headrests. The carpets, seat upholstery, and door panels were reportedly replaced under prior ownership.
The three-spoke steering wheel is mounted on a telescopic column and frames a 160-mph speedometer, a tachometer with a 6,500-rpm redline, and gauges for fuel level, amperage, oil pressure, and water temperature. The five-digit odometer shows 6k miles, approximately 200 of which were added under current ownership. The odometer is said to have been reset under prior ownership, and the total mileage is unknown.
The 427ci L72 V8 was factory rated at 425 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque. The engine is said to have been overhauled in 2014, and work in 2019 included overhauling the carburetor and replacing the transistor ignition coil, PCV valve hose, and valve cover gaskets.
The engine stamping is shown above. The IP suffix corresponds to a 425-horsepower, 427ci L72 V8 for use with a manual transmission.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed M21 manual transmission and an optional Positraction differential with 4.11:1 gearing. Additional underside images can be viewed in the gallery.
