The car was finished from the factory in Montero Red (R1) and is equipped with a power-operated white soft top, which was rebuilt and re-covered in 2015 by Goller’s Hot Rods of Defiance, Ohio. Exterior details include quad headlamps, a hood scoop, GTO badging, and dual exhaust outlets. The passenger-side taillight lens, various pieces of weatherstripping, and the front fender badging and rear tail panel badging have been replaced.
Polished 15” American Racing Torq Thrust wheels were installed during current ownership and mounted with BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires measuring 215/65 up front and 245/60 out back. A full-size spare is found in the trunk. Power-assisted front disc brakes were installed in 2015, along with 1/8” front wheel spacers and a replacement power steering box, pump, hoses, pulley, and front springs.
The cabin has been lined with Dynamat sound deadening material and houses front bucket seats and a rear bench trimmed in red vinyl with a matching dashboard and door panels. Red loop carpets and rubber mats line the floors, and appointments include lap belts, a center console, and an Aurora Design FMR-1 AM/FM radio. Work in 2015 included replacing the seat bottom springs and refurbishing the center console and dash bezel.
The wood-rimmed three-spoke steering wheel was refurbished in 2015 and fronts a woodgrain-accented dashboard that houses a 120-mph speedometer, an 8k-rpm tachometer, and combination gauges. The five-digit odometer shows approximately 82k miles, though total mileage is unknown. The speedometer face has been replaced.
The 400ci V8 was installed some time during previous ownership and is topped by triple carburetors with individual air cleaners. The engine was overhauled in 2019, and additional work during current ownership in 2015 included installation of a four-core radiator and replacement of the thermostat, oil pressure sending unit, and wiring harness. Maintenance in 2021 consisted of an oil change, an idle adjustment, and replacement of the ignition coil.
Power is sent to the rear wheels via a Tremec five-speed manual gearbox equipped with a Hurst shifter. The clutch fork spring and Z-bar were replaced in 2015. Additional underbody images are provided in the gallery below.
