This Shelby convertible left the factory finished in Acapulco blue and was refinished as part of a refurbishment completed in 1991. Equipment includes a white soft top and a black boot cover, vented fiberglass hood and nose extension, fiberglass trunk lid with a ducktail spoiler, rectangular fog lights, white GT500 rocker stripes, quarter panel air scoops, a roll hoop, and dual exhaust outlets that exit through the rear valence. Bright trim adorns the rear bumper, rocker panels, and front fascia.
The 15″ 10-spoke aluminum wheels wear Goodyear white-letter tires. Braking is handled by power-assisted front discs with rear drums, and power steering was fitted from the factory. The brake master cylinder, front calipers and pads, and rear wheel cylinders and shoes as well as the power steering control valve and hoses were replaced in 2019.
The cabin is trimmed in black vinyl and features woodgrain accents on the dashboard, center console, and door panels. Additional equipment includes lap belts for four occupants, vent windows, GT500-branded rubber floor mats, an analog clock, and a Philco push-button AM radio.
The two-spoke steering wheel features a half horn ring and is mounted to a tilting column. Instrumentation includes a 140-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 6k-rpm redline, and Stewart Warner gauges indicating oil pressure and amperage are mounted in the center stack beneath the radio. The five-digit odometer shows 25k miles, and total mileage is unknown.
The 428ci V8 features a four-barrel carburetor with a Cobra-branded air cleaner assembly as well as finned aluminum valve covers and a blue-painted engine block, intake manifold, and cylinder heads. The carburetor was rebuilt in 2018, and the spark plugs, ignition points, valve cover gaskets, thermostat, and battery were replaced..
Power is sent to the rear wheels via a three-speed automatic transmission. The exhaust system and transmission pan gasket was replaced in 2019.
The bill of sale shown above reveals the car was initially sold by Geo Busby Ford of Nashville, Tennessee, and lists a total cash price of $4,893.
