Finished from the factory in Fathom Green (57), the car is said to have been fitted with replacement rear quarter panels and floor sections and repainted during previous ownership. Exterior details include a dark green vinyl roof, a cowl induction hood, dual white stripes, front and rear spoilers, chrome bumpers with overriders, side mirrors, and Z/28 badging. The MacNeish Report states that the inner fender flaps are missing and the replacement rear quarter panels were incorrectly seamed to the rear valance panel.
The 15×8” Rally-style wheels wear chrome trim rings and hubcaps and are mounted with Goodyear Polyglas GT white-letter tires. Braking is through power-assisted front discs and rear drums. The rear leaf springs and lower rear mounting plates have reportedly been replaced, and the car has been fitted with a larger aftermarket sway bar.
The cabin was originally upholstered in Midnight Green and now houses white vinyl seats and door panels, along with a dark green dashboard, center console, and carpets. Features include Z/28-branded floor mats, lap belts, a Hurst shifter, push-button AM radio, and faux woodgrain trim on the dash and center console. Spare green vinyl seat coverings and interior panels are included in the sale.
A two-spoke steering wheel sits ahead of a 120-mph speedometer, an 8k-rpm tachometer, and an analog clock. A quartet of auxiliary instrumentation is found in the center console. The five-digit odometer shows approximately 40k miles, though total mileage is unknown.
The 302ci V8 is topped by a single carburetor and sends power to the rear wheels via a Muncie M20 four-speed manual transmission and a 12-bolt rear end housing a Positraction differential with a 3.73:1 gear ratio. The MacNeish reports indicates that the smog equipment has been removed and a four-core radiator and replacement bell housing have been installed.
The engine assembly stamp on the right of the pad decodes to show assembly at the Flint, Michigan plant on April 7th, and the suffix code DZ indicates a 302ci/290 horsepower V8 in conjunction with a manual transmission for Z/28 models. A matching assembly stamp is listed on the Protect-O-Plate as shown in the gallery.
