The W113 SL was designed by Friedrich Geiger, Béla Barényi, and Paul Bracq and was introduced to the public at the 1963 Geneva Motor Show. This example wears a repaint, reportedly in the original Arabian Gray (124), and features a black soft top, a black removable hardtop, a retractable antenna, a driver-side mirror, and US-specification headlights. Refurbishment work included dent removal and dry-ice cleaning. Blemishes are noted on the left-front fender.

The 14″ steel wheels feature hubcaps with painted centers and are mounted with Vredestein Sprint Classic tires. The brake, suspension, and steering systems were overhauled during the refurbishment, and components replaced included the brake master cylinder, front wheel bearings, front control arms, trailing arm bushings, rear brake calipers, and tie rods.
The bucket seats are upholstered in black MB-Tex that extends to the door panels, and the cabin features wood trim on the dashboard and center console. Interior appointments include an AM/FM radio, an analog clock, a floor-mounted gear shifter, and a heater. The selling dealer notes that the clock is inoperable.
The two-spoke steering wheel features a chrome horn ring and frames a 140-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 6,500-rpm redline as well as gauges for fuel level, oil pressure, and coolant temperature. The five-digit odometer shows 44k miles, approximately 2k of which were added under current ownership.
The 2.8-liter M130 inline-six was factory equipped with Bosch fuel injection. The fuel system was overhauled during the refurbishment, which included replacing the level sending unit, filter, and hoses. Cooling system work at that time involved removing, repairing, and recoring the radiator, repairing the reservoir tank, and replacing the water pump, thermostat, and hoses. The distributor, alternator, spark plugs, and ignition wires were also replaced in October 2018, and the ignition timing, idle speed, and fuel mixture were adjusted. Photographs of compression-test readings are shown in the gallery below.
Power is routed to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission that was disassembled and overhauled in March 2017, a process that included replacing the clutch, master cylinder, shift linkages, synchronizer rings, main and countershafts, switches, and seals. The axle assembly and exhaust system were overhauled at that time.
