The Karmann-built body was finished from the factory in Chamonix White (85) and was reportedly repainted in the mid-1990s. Equipment includes dual side mirrors, a manual sunroof, a single polished exhaust outlet, side moldings, and chrome bumpers with front overriders. The rear tail panel molding was replaced in 2019, and close-up photos of the body and trim are provided in the gallery.
The 17″ Style 32 wheels were refinished during current ownership and are mounted with Continental ExtremeContact DWS06 tires, which were installed in 2019 and measure 225/45 up front and 255/40 at the rear. Stopping power is provided by discs at all four corners. The car was reportedly fitted with larger sway bars under previous ownership.
The interior was refreshed around 2004, which is said to have consisted of replacing the black leather seat covers, door panels, carpeting, headliner, and wood trim. Additional appointments include Coco floor mats, power windows, a wood shift knob, quarter vent windows, an Alpine stereo, and a fire extinguisher mounted below the passenger seat. The air conditioning system was overhauled and recharged with R134a refrigerant in 2019, and additional interior work consisted of repairing the front seat aluminum trim, replacing the front tilt lock bushings, and refinishing the seat tracks. The seller states the rear power windows are inoperable.
A three-spoke Nardi steering wheel frames instrumentation consisting of a 150-mph speedometer, a tachometer, an analog clock, and gauges for coolant temperature and fuel level. A Bosch turbo-boost gauge has been installed to the left of the instrument cluster. The five-digit mechanical odometer shows 4k miles, approximately 1,400 of which were added under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown.
The replacement 3.0-liter M30 inline-six was installed under previous ownership and was reportedly sourced from a 1977 BMW 530i. It is equipped with twin-turbochargers, L-Jetronic fuel injection, a Bosch ignition module, an aftermarket fuel pressure regulator, a blow-off valve, and a Pfaff exhaust manifold. The radiator, alternator, and heater core were refreshed in 2019, and the turbochargers were also serviced at that time. The electrical system was repaired with a custom fuse box and replacement ignition module in 2020, and additional work included replacing the spark plugs and ignition wires, battery cable and cut-off switch, and drive belts.
